About me

Hi! I’m Roberta Thompson. I work with Griffith Institute for Educational Research at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia. My job is all about finding out how teenage girls use social media in their everyday lives. I believe girls are experts in their own social media experience and by listening to them, we can help other girls the same age enjoy social media safely. You can find more information about me here, and you can contact me here.
About the Girls Social Media Project

This project is all about girls helping other girls to stay safe online. Over the course of the project, Year 7 and 8 girls will be telling me what is important to them about social media. They will tell me about the types of situations they encounter and then design resources, videos and other materials to help girls their age make safe choices about their social media use.
Social Media Mindset Teacher Resources

This project has culminated in a final resource for teachers and students, called Social Media Mindset, including a poster, and teaching resource/student activity, available here.
